Private Pilot License
If you have ever dreamed of learning how to fly, this is your
first step in making that dream a reality. Achieving your
private pilot license is a great way to enjoy the freedom
of flight either recreationally or as a first step towards
a career as a professional pilot.
Course Requirements
Minimum Age: 16 years to solo, 17 years for the private
pilot license.
Medical Fitness: Third Class Medical Certificate
Knowledge: Pass the FAA private pilot knowledge test
with a minimum score of 70%.
Experience: Minimum 40 hours of flight training including
a minimum 20 hours dual instruction and 10 hours solo flight
time.
Skill: Successful completion of the private pilot flight
test.
Instrument Rating
The Instrument Rating is one of the most challenging ratings,
but also the most important. An Instrument Rating allows you
to fly under a wider range of weather conditions, and dramatically
sharpens your piloting skills. If you are pursuing a career
as a professional pilot, this rating is mandatory, and it
is often an insurance requirement if you wish to rent faster,
more complicated aircraft. If aircraft ownership is one of
your goals, an Instrument Rating will save you money on your
aircraft insurance.
Course Requirements:
Minimum Age: 17 years
Medical Fitness: Third Class Medical Certificate
Prerequisites: A private pilot license, 40 hours of
real or simulated instrument time (20 hours of which can be
in a ground based flight training device), and 50 hours of
cross-country pilot in command flight experience. Pass the
FAA instrument knowledge test with a minimum score of 70%.
Successful completion of an Instrument Pilot flight test.
Commercial Pilot License
Now that you have completed your private pilot license you
are one step closer to realizing your dream of becoming a
Commercial Pilot.
Course Requirements:
Minimum Age: 18 years
Medical Fitness: Second Class Medical Certificate
Prerequisites: Minimum 250 hours of total time, including
100 hours pilot-in-command, a minimum score of 70% on the
FAA knowledge test.
Experience: Minimum 250 hours of total time, 20 hours
of training including a 100nm day cross country, 100nm night
cross country, 10 hours complex, 100 hours PIC, 10 hours solo,
including a 300nm cross country flight and 5 hours night VFR.
Skill: Successful completion of a commercial pilot
flight-test.
Multi-engine
Adding a multiengine category to your license will broaden
your skills and make you a better pilot no matter what you
fly. Nothing compares to the feeling of managing the complexity
and workload of a twin. If you are pursuing a career as a
professional pilot, this rating is essential.
Prerequisites: A Private Pilot License and 20 hours of cross-country,
Pilot in Command flight experience.
